History of Minerva First Christian Church

Our church really began almost 2000 years ago when the Holy Spirit moved upon some very dedicated disciples and inspired them to preach the word to the crowds.  The apostle Peter was the main preacher of the day.  You can read about this in Acts chapter 2.  This day 3,000 people were baptized into Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ began.
The Church of Christ (Christian Church) in Minerva began in the early 1800's.  It's first building was east of Minerva on the McKinley farm.  There is a cemetery there to remind us of this.   Later they moved into town and built a small white frame church building.  This building was completely destroyed by fire in 1949.  The only thing that remained was the organ and the bell.    The congregation then built the brick building that is the middle section of our present day church.  The bell in the tower is the only thing we have left of the original white frame building.    In 1962 the congregation built the educational wing and in 2002 they built the new sanctuary.
