S for Scripture:
Open your Bible to the weekly reading. Take your time reading the passage and allow God to speak to you. When you are finished, look for a story, paragraph, or verse that particularly spoke to you. Write it in your jounral.
O for Observation:
Who is speaking? Who is listening? What is going on in the passage? What do you think God is saying through this scripture? Are there any instructions to follow? Are there any principles to learn? What is being said to people of all generations in this passage? Ask the holy spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Record any observations in your journal. Pharaphase and record this scripture in your journal too.
A for Application:
Personalize what you have read by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or correction for a particular area of your life. Record in your journal how this Scriputre can apply to you today.
P for Prayer:
This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture or it may be greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write out your prayer.
